e-Government and e-Business

Goal
Systema Technologies aims at designing and developing high quality, accessible, efficient and effective electronic public services for citizens and businesses. Systema is particularly interested in exploring new strategies and exploiting state-of-the-art technologies for e-Government and e-Business systems interoperability and interaction with and between citizens, business and public administrations. Citizens, Business and public administrations would access these services through a variety of devices, including PC, digital TV, mobile terminals, or public Internet access points, in addition to the usual physical, offline service provision. Such a multi-channel/multi-platform approach is essential to avoid creating a new societal divide.

Experience/Expertise
Systema Technologies during the last years has participated, as partner and Coordinator as well, in R&D projects focused on the design and development of e-business and/or e-government systems using state of the art technologies and taking into account the best practices in the field. Systema has been, recently, assigned a tender for the development of information systems for the provision of ecclesiastic services from the Holy Archdiocese of Athens to the citizens. The ICT applications Systema develops aim to make life easier for citizens and businesses online by delivering trusted services.

INTELCITIES

Date of Release: 2005

IntelCities (Intelligent Cities) has been an IP-IST research and technological development project that brought together advanced knowledge and experience of electronic government, planning systems and citizen participation from across Europe.
The project brought together eighteen European cities, twenty ICT companies (including Nokia and CISCO) and thirty-six research groups.
IntelCities helped towards achieving the EU policy goal of the Knowledge Society by 2010 through new forms of electronic governance of cities and greater social inclusion through enhanced access to services by citizens and businesses.

By providing these services, IntelCities contributed to:

  • Addressing poor quality information that prevents the effective use, management and planning of cities;
  • Supporting the everyday needs of citizens and business by providing 24 hour access to transactional city services;
  • Developing more efficient city management by integrating services across city authorities, regional and national government agencies, utility and transport system providers, non-governmental organization networks and citizens;
  • Enabling citizens and businesses to play a far more participative and inclusive role in city planning via more reliable city modeling, predictive planning, and advanced visualisation technologies.
